The Elders/ Los "Elders"

Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Lakhdar Brahimi, Gro Brundtland, Fernando H Cardoso, Jimmy Carter, Graça Machel ,Mary Robinson, Desmond Tutu, Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela

Today I have found a very interesting website: http://www.theelders.org . It’s an international NGO of men and woman known as former statesmen, peace activists, and human rights advocates. The goal for the Elders is to use their "almost 1,000 years of collective experience" to work on solutions for problems like climate change, HIV/AIDS, and poverty, as well as to "use their political independence to help resolve some of the world's most intractable conflicts".

Great names like Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Gro Brundtland, Graça Machel and Nelson Mandela are between them. All man and woman whom have meant (and who are still meaning!) a lot for the world. They are change makers, leaders, pioneers. They are bold people, desiring the best for all, and believing in the difference every single person can make.  In short, they are a great inspiration for people like me. I feel proud to live in this era of the world knowing that there are such people working so hard at defending human rights.

These are the kind of people whom inspire me. These are the ones whom give me hope that I too can maybe mean something to the world. No, I don’t say this because I want to be famous or known. That doesn’t interest me. What I want is to help making a change. For the better. I have always wanted to help, whether it is helping an animal, a friend or the entire world. I wish to spend my lifetime usefully: Helping at making a difference, and thus better the lives of many.

How much would I wish to meet those great people. Surely, they are also “just” humans, not perfect in all aspects of their lives, like all of us, but that doesn’t take away the great value they have for our world. How much would I like to talk, and listen too. Listen patiently, learning from these wise elders.

Because wise is what they are. What is my own youth and humble knowledge compared to their wisdom? Little. Although I am focused on spending my life gaining wisdom, so as to help and guide others.

Thank you, great humans, thank you all whom have lived throughout the ages of men, for you are my greatest inspiration.

Hoy he encontrado un website muy interesante: http://www.theelders.org . Es una ONG internacional de hombres y mujeres conocidos como líderes globales, defensores de la paz, y de los derechos humanos.  El objetivo de “the elders” es hacer uso de su "casi 1.000 años de experiencia colectiva" para trabajar en soluciones para problemas como el cambio climático, el VIH / SIDA y la pobreza, así como a «utilizar su independencia política para ayudar a resolver algunos de los conflictos intratables del mundo ".

Grandes nombres como Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Gro Brundtland, Graça Machel y Nelson Mandela están entre ellos. Todos son hombres y mujeres quien han hecho (y que siguen haciendo!) mucho por el mundo. Son promotores de cambio, líderes, pioneros. Ellos son personas valientes, quien desean lo mejor para todos, y creen en la diferencia que cada persona individual puede hacer. En resumen, son una gran inspiración para gente como yo. Me siento orgulloso de vivir en esta época del mundo, sabiendo que hay gente trabajando tanto con el fin de defender los derechos humanos.

Estos son el tipo de personas quiem me inspiran. Estos son los quien me dan esperanza de que tal vez yo también pueda significar algo para el mundo. No digo esto porque quiero ser famoso o conocido. Que eso no me interesa. Lo que quiero es ayudar a hacer un cambio. Para el mejor. Siempre he querido ayudar, da igual si trataba de querer ayudar a un animal, un amigo o el mundo entero. Quiero pasar mi vida siendo útil: ayudar a hacer una diferencia, y así mejorar las vidas de muchos.

Cuánto deseo de conocer a esas grandes personas. Seguramente, también son "sólo" seres humanos, no perfectos en todos los aspectos de sus vidas, como todos nosotros, pero eso no quita el gran valor que tienen para nuestro mundo. Cuánto me gusta hablar, y escuchar también. Escuchar con paciencia, aprendiendo de estos Elders sabios.

Porque sabios es lo que son. ¿Cuál es mi propia juventud y conocimiento humilde en comparación con su sabiduría? Poco. Aunque estoy enfocado en pasar mi vida adquiriendo sabiduría, con fin de ayudar y guiar a otros.

Gracias, grandes seres humanos, gracias todos quienes han vivido a lo largo de las edades del ser humano, porque sois mi mayor inspiración.

Today I want to write down a text I have found long ago, and which I still find enormously motivating, inspirational and powerful. It is written by a man of great wisdom and great perseverance whom for me is a true inspiration: Nelson Mandela.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most.
We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us.
And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So: don’t play small, don’t hide. Shine! Be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, famous! Be your true, great self! You are great, perfect, unique, able to achieve anything you wish. You are light, let your light illuminate others and help them on their way to understand their own greatness!

Hoy quiero escribir aquí un texto que encontré hace bastante, y que aun lo considero enormemente motivador, inspirador y poderoso. Esta escrito por un hombre de gran sabiduría y perseverancia que para mí es una verdadera inspiración: Nelson Mandela.

"Nuestro miedo más profundo no es el de ser inadecuados. Nuestro miedo más profundo es el de ser poderosos más allá de toda medida. Es nuestra luz, no nuestra oscuridad, lo que nos asusta. Nos preguntamos: ¿Quién soy yo para ser brillante, hermoso, talentoso, extraordinario?. Más bien, la pregunta a formular es: ¿Quién eres tú para no serlo? Eres una criatura de Dios. Jugar a ser insignificante no le sirve al mundo. No hay nada inspirador en encogerse para que los demás no se sientan inseguros a tu alrededor.  Hemos nacido para dejar de manifiesto la gloria de Dios que hay dentro de nosotros. Que no está sólo en algunos, sino en cada uno de nosotros. Y, al dejar que nuestra propia luz brille, inconscientemente, les damos permiso a otros para que hagan lo mismo. Al liberarnos de nuestro propio miedo, nuestra presencia, automáticamente, libera a otros".

Así que: no juges ser insignificante, no te escondes! Brilla! Se brillante, hermoso, talentoso, extraordinario! Se tu verdadero, gran ser! Eres un gran ser, perfecto, unico, capaz de hacer todo lo que deseas. Eres luz, deja tu luz iluminar a otros y ayúdales en su propio camino para entender su grandeza.
