Kindness/ Bondad

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
You shouldn’t just limit your kindness to the people you know, or people that seem nice to you. Kindness, like love (or which in truth is an expression of love) should be unconditional, given freely and with joy.

Everyone, with not a single exception, is having a hard time. We all have our problems, we all have worries, and bad things going on in our lives at at least once in a lifetime. And we should not deprive others from kindness just because they don’t seem kind/nice to us.

I’m just saying this, because it’s something that happens so frequently. If you see someone (unknown) smiling to you, you smile back. But the tendency to smile back quickly fades when you encounter sad/angry/negative looking people. and you even tend to reflect their negativity. Whilst they are exactly the ones who most need kindness.

An act of kindness doesn’t have to be something big. Any type of kindness is worth something, is of help, is an expression of love towards your fellow humans. And when you one day might be in need of a little kindness, you might be repaid for your own effort you made in being kind to others in other times.

Being kind shouldn’t been seen as an offer. It should be seen as a correct way of interacting with others. Patience, love, respect, compassion, that is how we should treat or fellow humans.

So, if you see someone having a hard time, don’t reflect their negativity and make them feel even worse. Rise above your (possible) initial repulsion towards negativity, and be compassionate. Be kindhearted, and give a gift of kindness. Your smiles, words, acts are small things, but they still might mean a world of difference to the one who is suffering at that moment.

“This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.”
Dalai Lama
“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
“ No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. “

Travelling

Travelling. To me, there is no better way to see the world, learn and grow as a person then to travel. And with this I don’t mean visit places for 5 days, see the touristic hotspots and that’s it. No, with travelling I mean going into the wilderness. Walking into remote villages and try to communicate with people whose culture and language are foreign for you. With travelling I mean having moments of pure joy and enthusiasm as well as having moments of desperation and troubles.

Travelling to me is a great way to grow personally. From all the blessings and obstacles during your journeys you learn a great lot. From the difficult moments you learn to improvise so much more then you would if you’d never leave home. You learn about other people, you learn to greatly respect all cultures of the earth, and Mother Nature herself
.
A few quotes about travelling that I truly love because they seem so true to me are the following:

“To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”

“If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.”

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”

But… however much I love travelling, it’s something that I want for myself. And there is something, this force that always drives me further, that is even more important than my love for travelling; it’s my desire to help others. I’m ambitious. I want too much, I’m idealistic. So at the moment I can’t see a way how to combine both things in such way that I can both make myself happy and others. I wouldn’t find it fair if I were to have all the fun and benefits from my personal growth on my journeys, whilst others continue to suffer.

What I do know, is that I need both to be happy. I want to help others so that they can grow, become happy, live beautiful, fulfilling, peaceful lives. And I need to travel and see this great, beautiful, extraordinary world.

I already go on small journeys in the region where I live, and although it’s nothing big, it does give me more insight about life, and gives me a feeling of self-worth I’ve never felt before. I grow, every time I step onto the road with unknown country to be discovered. And I do try to help others. But how much do I wish that there were a way to combine both, make my living out of it.

All I can hope for is a strike of insight that I know someday will come, whether it will be on a 2000 m high mountain, on my kayak on the sea, or anywhere else on my journeys.

Not save, but love/ no salvar, pero amar

“You cannot save people. You can only love them.”
Maybe this is a good phrase for me. For a long time I suffered a lot when I saw people being unhappy, feeling lost, or simply not able to find happiness in their lives. I suffered even more when I myself learnt how to be happy. I still suffer due to those things. So many times I have thought long and hard about how I could help everyone, how I could be most useful.

I remember that when I was young I had a time when I really wanted to go to Africa to help the poor children. Sometimes that image still passes by, or some other in which I can help people to be happy, peaceful and in harmony with themselves and their surroundings.

But in the end everyone has got his/her own responsibility. I can’t force people to let me help them. If they don’t want help, I can’t oblige them to accept mine. I might think that the best way to happiness is gratitude, love and respect, but others might be convinced I’m wrong.

So… to my great sadness, I cannot save nor help all the people I so much desire to help. But there is something that I can do. I have grown as person. I’m still growing, day after day, but until now I haven’t been unhappy with the result. What I can do is love. Maybe to you it sounds pointless, useless, foolish. Think whatever you like. I have experienced the power of love in many ways, and it’s better than anything else in the world to make you a better person. It’s the most powerful and pure thing there is.

Thus, what I can do for others is to love them. I can remind them that I am here for them, respectful, patient, loving, without prejudices, without conditions. And hopefully in that way, during my entire life I can bring at least some smiles onto people’s faces, love into their souls, and hope into their hearts.

So I will. I will love each being with all my soul, always wishing them the best, and being the best possible person. I want to live my life in such way that I can inspire people, and thus bring a little more light into the world.

My kindest and most loving greetings to you all.

"No puedes salvar a la gente. Sólo puedes amarles. "

He crecido como persona.

Introversion

Today I saw a short video on TED about introversion, and I loved it. It also really made me think. It’s curious how the society demands everyone to be extroverted, outgoing, and all that stuff, whilst one third to one half of the people are introverted.  As if being introverted is something wrong, something to be ashamed about.

I’m sure many people who are, like me, introverts, have always felt the pressure to be more social, to think less, to be more outgoing. People have always thought of me to be shy, but what I think is that I simply don’t need many people around me to be happy. I don’t need to go up to complete strangers and chat with them, as an extrovert would do. Introversion is not being shy. It’s rather that whilst extroverts love stimulation, and the more the better, introverts cope much better in quiet, peaceful environments. That’s why many introverts love to be out in the nature, read a book, have a chill-out dinner with their few intimate friends, or simply be alone with their thoughts.

If you look at modern schools and at working places, almost everything is focused on working together, on the typical group spirit and how good that is for creativity and production. So, considering that a great amount of people actually are introvert; what does this mean for them? It decreases productivity, it obliges people to change the person they actually are, and often makes them feel unhappy and with low self-esteem. Which is really a pity.

Now, did you know that introverts actually make better leaders then extroverts? People like Ghandi, or Eleanor Roosevelt described themselves as introverts, yet they stepped into the spotlights and did great things. A curious thing, right?

It’s only recently that introversion is being seen as something strange, something that you must avoid to be. But in the past people understood much better the power of solitude. Many of the greatest and most important people to human history have spent part of their lives in solitude. That’s because creativity, eventually, does express itself at its best when being in solitude.

Extroversion isn’t bad at all. It’s just that it’s overvalued nowadays, whilst we actually need a combination of both introversion and extraversion, a sort of Yin-Yang equilibrium.  In this world, we need both types of people to overcome the problems we face.

So whether you are introverted or extraverted, I would strongly recommend you to investigate some more about whom and how you are, so that you can reach your maximum potential. It can be of such help to know where your true strengths lie. And always be proud of who you are! You’re unique, and that is a great, beautiful, wonderful thing. Don’t ever let your surroundings change that.

Traduccion; Introvertido.

Quote text I. Money/dinero

"Some people are so poor, all they have is money."

Ok, quite a harsh quote. Not very kind towards the people who have a lot of money, who have worked hard for it, and do good things with it.

But there is a truth in it, considering the fact that I’m talking here about the real scrooges, the money obsessed people. There is such a great obsession for material wealth and power that some people go to extremes in order to obtain money. The sad thing is that often they feel that it’s never enough. Many people spend a great part of their life gaining money, putting aside things like health, family, friends, happiness; fundamental things. Not only do they put things aside that could truly make them happier, but they even change their ethical beliefs about the world and permit themselves to do things that might have grave consequences to others (such cases have appeared quite frequently out in the open since the start of the economic crisis)

This, to me, sounds quite worrying. What good is having money when you have no friends, no loving family, no good health, no inner happiness? What fulfillment in your life will it give you that you’re only focused on increasing your material wealth? What excuse is there that permits you to put your obsession for wealth before other’s wellbeing?

Sure, everyone can do whatever he/she desires to do. But always taking in consideration the wellbeing of others, and ultimately, or maybe actually in the first place (depends on your perspective) your own inner wellbeing. And being obsessed by money and/or material goods doesn’t seem to me as healthy. And no matter how much wealth you have then, you’ve totally deprived yourself from interior riches, wonders and greatness. And this, in my definition, is being truly poor on the spiritual level.
