Gratitude

So much gratitude I feel, about so many things. The day before yesterday I was thinking and talking about it, and I have my moments when I am utterly stunned by all the beautiful, marvelous, precious moments, things and people my road through life has crossed with. Thank you. Thank you for each and every one of my trials and obstacles, for without I would never have gained so much knowledge and strength as I have now. Thank you for all the great people I have shared moments with, for each and every one has taught me something, given me sight of new perspectives, shown me new truths, and gave me moments of true happiness and laughter. Thank you for also the things in life I have crossed roads with; landscapes, cultures, nature etc. for from those I learnt so much, I gained so much wisdom from observing the world.

Thank you, for everything. For every little insignificant and every greatly important factor in my life. I wouldn’t have wanted my life to go distinctly, because despite all the difficulties and despairs, it is exactly that for which I am most grateful. Without each and every one of the factors in my life, I wouldn’t be living the same life as I live now. I might never have left my country of birth, I might never have seen so much of the world, I might never have met the beautiful people I have met. I might never have met this amazing beautiful person whom I love most of all...

So… I am deeply grateful, for everything. There are no longer regrets for things I have done wrong in the past, there are no longer sorrows for all the pain and sadness. Everything is alright, as it has always been, though I didn’t realize it then.

Maybe people should more often take a look at their lives and realize how grateful they can and should be, for life is beautiful :)

Writing / Escribir

I think I really like writing. Ok, maybe that won’t come as a surprise to you, my dear readers, but sometimes it really does amaze me with such ease as the words come streaming out of my head, onto the computer screen, or paper. I have days that I start with 4 different texts, feeling good about them all, feeling very happy and proud to write. But then I also have many days that inspiration is far away. But that’s normal I suppose.

No, I wouldn’t call myself a writer. I have neither the capacity nor the academic background to call myself one. Even though people say I write well-written, clear texts, I am far away from creating truly beautiful texts, like the great authors of the past. Even though words spring clearly up in my mind, I lack the capacity of transmitting all the beauty and greatness I desire. I am not a true master of words.

Although I would love to ;) I have a great love for the English writers of before, between en 19th century till first half of the 20th century. Don’t ask me why, I don’t really know. I just really like their way of expression and also the stories behind their stories, the hidden, more unknown ones. Of course there are many more writers whose writings I deeply admire, and most of them from long ago, from forgotten ages. Why? Maybe because to me it seems books were still written to express true beauty and craft of writing, whilst nowadays it is just about writing a commercially good story to sell as much as possible, no longer really giving importance to the real magic of using the right words, to create beautiful texts. And also because (again it seems to me, maybe others think else) that by the passing of time, vocabulary is lost, and language turns more and more colloquial. That is a great loss to me, for human language is already so limited to express the abstract and now it becomes even simpler. That is really a pity, as many of the experiences I live aren’t actually describable with the limited words we have. Just look at the experience of love! I truthfully struggle to find words which match the joy and beauty and greatness of living such thing.

So… I really like writing. And I don’t think that will change, as writing has always been a manner of mine to express myself. It is better than talking anyway, as with writing you think a lot more than when talking haha. And to be honest, there are a lot of things to write about. Infinitely much. Doesn’t seem like I will be finished soon then! :D

Thank you my dear readers, I really enjoy it that there are people who actually read this! :) have a nice day!

let go / dejadlo ir

Maybe you have noticed lately, that there is a lot of publicity about the infamous day of 9/11, which this year will be ten years hence that day. Publicity of the building at ground zero of a new tower, the 1 WTC. Publicity of coming memorials and reunions to remember what happened 10 years ago. And many more things. Just look at the National Geographic Channel, this year they have a full week with lots of “9/11” documentaries. About what happened, about the survivors, the deaths, the friends and families. About what the politicians did and think. About the many conspiracies. And so on…

All good and well, but is it really necessary to put so much emphasis on what happened 10 years ago? That this year it is the “10th anniversary” since that day doesn’t make sense to me that people should focus on it even more. I would even rather say; well people, it’s been ten years, why not let it rest? Why not let the memories of the dead and hurt be free and be glad to be alive? Don’t feel hate or anger or sadness in your hearts, for that won’t get you anywhere. Forgive. Let go. Live. Your beloved dead ones wouldn’t want to see you mourning over and over again about their deaths. They want you to be happy and alive.

Maybe I’m being a bit harsh. Of course, I haven’t lost anyone then. Of course, I was only 9 then. But still…I know many people died that day, and more got wounded, and that it is called the greatest terroristic attack on the west ever.. But still… it just doesn’t seem healthy to me to keep remembering it over and over again, keep opening the old wounds again… Personally, if I were a survivor, or had lost someone that day, I wouldn’t like to be reminded year after year of that. I wouldn’t want all the hysteric and exaggerated fuss. Maybe it helps some people, maybe it really does, to mourn and to looks at all those documentaries to try and understand what happened. All people can do as they wish, but to me it doesn’t seem the best way to cope.

But then… we are people, and what I have seen from the human species is that we tend to remember the bad and sad things, we carry them around like a heavy burden, and we open old scars as if we need to be reminded of the pain, in almost a masochistic way. Somehow we can’t just let go, oh no! We remind ourselves all too well of the pain and sadness and anger.
It would be so much better, so much easier if we were learnt to let go of all the bad things, to accept them, and let the memories flow away in the wind, lightly, as if they do not matter any longer, as if they cannot longer burden your heart. And thus you to be free.

Por supuesto, no he perdido a nadie entonces.

Be different! / Se diferente!

It really bothers me how little appreciation there is for the things you do different to others. It’s like; once you stray from the “normal” path, everyone starts criticizing you in one way or another, they don’t understand you, they tell you it’s a wrong choice, that you won’t make it. Even stop talking to you in some cases. That’s how little it is appreciated the things some might do different.

Take me for example; almost no one understood it when I took a sabbatical year. Most were just like “yeah right, she’s just going to party all the time, do nothing useful, just waste time”. Well, I can tell that this year I used to find out where my real interests lie, to study and investigate a great many things. And yes, to work on myself, to find out my weaknesses and my strengths, to regain confidence in myself, to become a stronger and better person. So this year was NOT useless, nor waste of time, nor it made me any dumber or lazier.

But wait! There are more critics! Because now I’m going to do an academic study with the Spanish Open University.  And people think that it isn’t so hard, that I won’t be able to do it, that it doesn’t count as a real study from the university, etc. Think twice people! it’s is a lot harder than a normal study at the university, it takes so much more discipline and capacity of self thinking, it’s more demanding and it is surely a real academic study!

And then of course people who don’t even understand why I am going to do an academic study. They think I should go to the art academy. Well, let me explain it once again: I have a good working brain, I am quite smart, and I have a great love for learning and to do something truly useful. So I am not going to make work out of one of my hobbies, but of my greatest passion; helping the world and being useful.

Sometimes it really tires me, having to explain and defend myself time after time for the choices I make. Yes! I know my choices aren’t the “normal” ones, and that once you do something that isn’t considered “normal” everyone looks bad at you.

I fear that most of the critics come because people prefer being all the same and feel a mix of envy, insecurity and fear when someone does something different. If there is one thing I have learnt from life, it is that people are for a great deal governed by their jealous and unsecure feelings, and will always criticize to make themselves feel better…

Sorry, maybe this text is a bit long… but now I just want to say to you if you, like me, do something different from the “normal”; don’t care about what others say, don’t care about their critics, nor about their words that you will fail. Believe in yourself and follow your deepest feeling, and be very proud of being different! Yes! Be proud of that! I personally find it soooooooo boring that most just want to be the same as all the others, I mean, there is nothing fun about that! ;)  follow your heart, your intuition, your gut feeling, however you want to call it. I did that, and it made me a lot happier than if I would have done what others had expected me to do.

Believe in yourself! And be PROUD! Don’t ever permit others to bring you down! Follow your deepest feelings, and never, ever, doubt yourself.

Have a nice day! :)
